Movement
Ever felt your heart skip a beat, or were conscious of your pulse bouncing up and down in your abdomen? Feels like a little jump, like a bubble in a hose, passing quickly through your insides. Well that's what it feels like initially when the baby moves!
Last night I was laying in bed, flat on my back, reading, when I felt a peculiarly large bubble move around in my lower abdomen. I kept my hand there and was able to keep feeling the movement. Dave felt it, too. I feel pretty convinced this was the baby flopping around like a fish in my uterus, and not just some gassy disturbance. It's right at 19 weeks so that's just about perfect timing. Yay!
Because we don't really have nerve endings inside our organs, we're not all that conscious of what it feels like to have things move inside us. But once the movement is strong enough to penetrate to the nerves on the exterior of your body, you can feel what's inside! As the baby gets larger and pokes up against my abdomen more and more, I'll be able to feel more and more of the movement.
